From De Vuurmolen to
De Vloamse Trine
In 2018, the iconic building De Vuurmolen was taken over with a clear vision: to create a warm and welcoming place where everyone feels at home. A place where locals and travelers meet, where the charm of Bruges remains tangible, and where flavor and conviviality take center stage.
With a new name, a renewed concept, and a thorough renovation, the building was given a fresh look without losing its authentic character. Today, the team of De Vloamse Trine can proudly say that this mission has been accomplished: our establishment has grown into a beloved meeting place for young and old alike.

A tribute to the neighborhood and its past
In the past, De Vuurmolen was a well-known local pub in Bruges. The atmosphere of earlier days - people from different generations gathered at the bar, music playing in the background, and always a lively buzz — became the inspiration for the new concept.
With De Vloamse Trine, that familiar spirit returns, reimagined in a modern setting.
The interior was completely stripped and rebuilt with respect for the past and a keen eye for atmosphere. The warm, deep red tones refer to the Bruges cityscape. The original bar was replaced with a stylish new counter featuring no fewer than twelve taps. The eye-catcher is the frosted glass window depicting King Cambrinus — a nod to the legend and the love of beer.
Behind the scenes, three professional tank installations of 500 liters each were installed, keeping the beer cool, fresh, and perfectly flavored. Here, you taste beer the way it’s meant to be — straight from the tank, without added CO₂, pure and refreshing.
And then there is the story of Cambrinus, the namesake of their first establishment and the legendary figure who, according to tradition, sold his soul to the devil to become a master brewer — all for the love of a woman. That same passion and determination live on in De Vloamse Trine.

And the story? It continues to grow every day with every guest, every pint, and every smile at the bar.
